By harnessing a wide range of materials and building techniques we design and create unique buildings, play spaces, outdoor furniture, structures and bespoke landscapes that add an element of theatre to the built environment.
Our aim is to consistently deliver quality workmanship and memorable creations for education, tourism, arts, commercial and residential clients.

We’ve built nearly everything here from the ground up including the stonework, windows, fittings, joinery, and garden. It is where we go to relax and experiment with new ideas.
After a massive storm blew over a large conifer, this part of The Royal Tasmanian Botanical was ready for renewal. And while constructing a natural-looking space, we came across a group of long-forgotten stone arch pieces; originally from the old AMP Building in Hobart. Repurposed as seating, they feature as an intriguing seating element and design feature.







This waterfront property in the historic Hobart suburb of Battery Point was given a major garden makeover in collaboration with landscape architects, Inspiring Place.
When a growing family needed more rooms in their roof space we designed and constructed these stairs using reclaimed jarrah garden steps, hexagon tiles made from decking offcuts, and raw steel risers and balustrades.
Earthworm are makers of bespoke indoor and outdoor furniture and objects that are unique and one of a kind.
Most modern play equipment can look fun and exciting to the eye, however, we’ve found that the actual engagement and playtime is quite limited. With every play space that we design and build, we aim to create a place where kids can spend hours lost in their own imaginative worlds.
With a reputation for the surreal and sublime when it comes to creative built environments, we also make bespoke elements for playgrounds, events and external spaces.

Founded by Paul Whelan, we are a diverse team of tradespeople, creatives and collaborators who harness a wide range of materials and techniques in the areas of timber, metal, stone, concrete and planting.
Best known for our work as builders and landscapers and with over 20 years of experience operating in the Hobart area, we’re able to design, construct and manage the whole creative design and construction process.
